The best way to use this guide is to look through the Contents at the beginning of the post, and find the section or subtopic that best relates to the information that you are looking for. Some of the information will overlap between sections as there is no way to concisely define each key topic. This guide is broken up into several sections. There are a few sections in this guide that I know need refinement, but I want to simply release it now. This compendium will be continually updated as patches and hotfixes alter the class. While definitely strange and unintuitive, these weapons are behaving exactly as they did in the original game and we have no intention of changing them to behave differently in WoW Classic.I'm re-uploading the text only as there is no archive of the page ( ), but have the appropriate images with me, so will add them as soon as I can to this text. Ultimately the way these weapons function is a very old quirk/bug with how original World of Warcraft was built. This is also correct and working as expected, and such effects will reduce the damage of attacks by such weapons by the amount of extra elemental damage specified in the weapon tooltip. That being said, it has been noticed by players that when using an elemental barrier such as a nature/frost/fire protection potion or a shield that absorbs a specific element, you will see an “absorbed (X)” message in the combat log. This is not noted in the combat log separately and is simply calculated as additional physical damage added to the weapon’s attack. They do however still inflict extra damage in the amount specified in the tooltips. "We wanted to take a moment to clarify that the extra elemental damage from weapons such as Lame-tonnerre, épée bénie du Cherchevent, Trancheuse glaciale, and Lame de guerre de Caer Darrow are behaving as expected in WoW Classic and do not actually cause additional non-physical damage to the target.
These are the weapons i've tested so far with no additional frost damage outside of the proc itself there's no base +5 frost damage. I do remember a bug back in Wotlk with an axe from Storm Peaks rep that caused multiple embue's to proc twice which these weapons may of been effected during the hotfix during 3.0.3 This means you don't get frost dmg added to a weapon that states it does additional frost damage. I've tested this multiple times in prep for Viscidus in Ahn'Qiraj with Trancheuse glaciale, I did have the frost bolt proc weapons prior to that and they work fine. Pretty much all of these types of weapons don't do any additional frost damage or other school of damage, only physical. Oh, btw, my team was composed of a Paladin, Warrior, Rouge, Priest, and Mage. I looted his head and also won a 1h mace (a frost hammer).Īnyway, good luck for those who need to 5-man scholo. I casted it on our priest, died, and got resurrected.
Luckily, I brought with me a Symbol of Divinity reagent for Divine Intervention (a talent for Paladins). Actually, I almost didn't get to complete the quest because I somehow got stuck under one of the shelves right after getting blasted away by RFW's force push attack. We went to kill Ravager first to get the Viewing Room Key and then ran back all the way to the front and jumped down the balcony. To my surprise, our run was very successful - no wipe out and it was smoother than a raid group. I was so frustrated when Blizzard released the most recent patch, which precludes you from completing quests by dropping off a raid group and then consequently joining back in upon quest completion.Īnyway, I couldn't find a UBRS/SCHOLO raid group last night so I decided to start a 5-man scholomance group to kill Ras Frostwhisper (and the Butcher).
